Stupid door question...

I need a striker panel for my 75 4door Maverick, on the drivers door. I know I should just go look, but I'm in college right now, and I won't be able to make it to the junkyard for a week or so. Are there any other vehicles I should look for that have the striker panel that will fit my car?

 

Are you talking about the striker inside the door jamb? Not on the door....but on the jamb? You can buy them brand new. I have used ones if you want me to mail you one. Email me DIRECTLY (see below) if I can help.

 

Yes, in the jam. Not on the actual door itself. The one I have on there is worn and the door shakes because the striker itself is worn

hinge pins worn, hinge pin bushings worn, rusted out door jam causing the door to sag, just a few things that will cause that.

 

Well I replaced the mechanism on the door that latches onto it. For a long time it was sticking, causing me to bang the door off the striker. So I'm 99% sure that's why it's worn

 

I have a used striker if you need it.

 

Sounds like there is something misaligned between latch and striker

 

me thinks the same thing. the latch only...latches...the door, it doesn't hit the plate. it just trips the latching mechanism...
