Everyone has their own opinion on things.

I like the more traditional look, so I installed '70 Mustang Mach 1 seats in my Comet GT. I plan on getting Mach 1 seat covers for it with modifying the back Mach 1 seat covers to fit the GT's back seat. I had similar seats in my '65 Mustang while in college and remember driving from Bowling Green, Ky to Cleveland, Ohio 3 times in them, very comfortable.
For the Sprint, I chose '71-'73 Cougar(same as Mustang) seats. I have the same seats in my '73 Stang conv and have made 4 trips from Fl to Ky in them with no back problems, and they look period correct.

    To each, his own.

Can you fabricate? There are literally thousands of factory and aftermarket seats that are better looking & more comfy than a stock Mav bucket. Go to your local Pick-a-Part and try before you buy. I have 2006 Pontiac G-6 (2-dr) buckets in my Mav and a set of 2001 Mitsu Mirage buckets going in my Rambler project. Both are light, the G-6 seats have lumbar but the Mitsu's are bottom line...

I have my eye on some Jetta seats. My wife had a 2012 and I loved the seats, car was a POS but the interior was nice. The back seat was pretty dang close for size so if I can find a set for the right price I'm going to jump on them.

    Those look nice!

I considered the Tiburon seats for a Vega.

Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
i would be weary of any aftermarket seat out there that is under $400 bucks to be honest. most are made in china (not that there is anything wrong with that). however i do not think they make seats very good IMO. though they may look cool they are really more dangerous then anything else. i have seen seats snap due to weak designs.

given nothing is fully save but personally i would run a cheaper sparco, recaro (which is whom make some of the original maverick buckets back in the day). :) or ideally an approved seat. i know these are not for everyone but i run Cobras seats in both my cars

Just picked up a pair of nice bucket seats at the local U-Pull-It from a Chrysler Cirrus. Leather, the driver's side is 8-way power. $20! And to top it off I found $.46 under the seats! LOL

Yeah, they're 21" wide, same as my current seats.

94 Camaro here. Very comfy! But have to get creative on mounting them in a Mav...
