I need to know more about this convertible maverick. I need to know who owned/owns it because I would like to ask them some questions about it. The car pic is at texasgrabber.com under the link maverick convertible. It is the very last 2 pics on that page. Any help on finding more info about that car would be very much appreciated.
Texasgrabber.com is Doug Bauer's web page. I'd direct the inquiry to him. If you don't know, he is DAB on here.
This car has had some discussion before. Its pretty much a general concessus that it is a mustang reskinned in maverick sheet metal. I had a 67 mustang convertible once and took a lot of measurements. It would take an awful lot to use this as a base. The 65/66 mustangs are a little smaller width wise and length wise so it would be the better choice. As I recall, we never did determine who the owner was. I would love to do this too but dont have the bucks to try it. Early mustang convertibles are expensive.
Here's a picture of another one that might get you interested: This one was featured in Shorthorns way back in 2001...no one knew who owned this one either, or if there is a functional top.
Thanks for the help. I like the way the mustang quarter gives the maverick convertible a more factory appearance. I guess I'll keep my car a hard top for now. I will keep doing research to find out how to make the mustang stuff work and what it will cost. I would never reskin a mustang with comet sheet metal because I want the title and the car to be a comet. well thanks again.
