I have always thought a a c4 automatic was the same regardless of motor. Is that the case or were there different versions? I have a 74 Maverick with I6 250 and automatic c4. I would like to put in a 302 but would like to keep the transmission that is in, as I had it rebuilt in 99 then parked it a few years later. Also having a hard time finding/selecting a 302 would a newer 302 work or only the ones from the 70’s? Thank you for help and advice!
Get yourself a late model 5.0L roller engine, as far as the C4 transmission the big change was in 1970. As far as internals, I don't believe application is an issue.
