hey I am in the middle of my 4 speed swap and running into some issues.
first the v8 trans crossmember I bought on ebay doesn't fit there is a pic of
it below.it was listed as a maverick v8 swap x member.i saw one in autokrafters
    catalog and lists in as 70 -77 v8 3 or4speed toploader.will this fit my car its a 69.5,
and I read somewhere that these have a smaller tunnel than the later models.

second, now that I have the 66 borg warner t10 trans(with hurst competition plus shifter)
from a mustang in the car the shifter rods for 1-2 3-4 are hitting against the tunnel brace.
also appears that when I cut the hole in the floor I may have to remove some of the side
tunnel to clearance the shift box.
if anyone has done this before can you give me some insight,i'm definitely capable
of cutting and making it fit just don't really want to cut more than I have to.anyway any
    imput is much appreciated.

I had the same issues when we installed the top loader 4 speed in my '72. When I went to put the shifter back on once the transmission was in there I had to really open up the tunnel including some of the cross member support that runs over the tunnel. Once installed we went back and covered it up with sheet metal. When we tub the rear end I plan to go all of the way up the middle section making the tunnel a little wider with new metal and repair the cross member. I would also like to put a 5 speed in it which should take care of all of the issues.
The strange thing about it is that this exact same transmission and Super Shifter were in my '71 Maverick and at that time I merely cut too big of a hole for the shifter itself. I opened the floor up to the "Super Boot" chrome trim on that car.

Keep in mind that the 1970 Maverick never had a V8 in it from the factory so the trans cross member is for a 6 cylinder only and the bolt holes do not match to the V8 member - When I put my Cleveland/4 speed in my 70, I just made my own cross member - also the 70 never had a floor shifter - column shifted auto or 3 on the tree - it also had a really small tunnel - I swapped out a bigger one from a 72 into mine
