I am jut getting into my 74 maverick rebuild. this unit is 100% number matching original but need a complete build. I have considering sticking with the original manifolds #D1DE on both sides but I noticed the passenger side looks quite more restricted than the driver side. can you open that up so that both pipe diameters are the same or is it completely recommended to go with the hooker or hedman headers. mine is a C4 auto with column shift and the "power assist" steering. I heave read alot that you need to convert to floor shift etc. I was hoping not to be forced into this conversion as I was considering keeping this unit closer to stock with a few mods. I was thinking an XE-270 cam and an edel 1406 carb. but that was about it and dual exausts. I am not used to workin on such a tight space for headers etc. got spoiled workin on my 65 F100 with the 390 in it.
