That is way more than I would spend on an 8". I would rather get a nice 9" and have it narrowed down to fit. I know I could do that for under $850 and have an entire rear end.

    JMHO ....... :Handshake

Yeah. The gears are stock 3.00's and I want to get either 3.80's or 4.10's. I just know I don't have the capability of putting something like that together.
And the link was just an example. I found the same thing for around 650 to 700 bucks on ebay that says it supports up to 500hp.

I think it would be easier for me to just replace the center section and call it a day lol

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
^ that is the one i'm going to buy also. The gears(3.55) I got from a MII at the junkyard for $40. And the installation kit is $110.

So in total about $500, and that's with my Friend installing and setting it up in the housing for free. It will be going into the Falcon.

For the maverick since I wanna run late models wheels i'm doing the 8.8 explorer swap.....$150 for 31 spline axles, disc brakes, track lok, 3.73 gears.... its though to beat that price! I got extra spring perches and a welder so that's no cost.

But for a standard width maverick the price of shortening and straightening a 8.8" will cost more....

Thats the one I am looking at. For me the 8" axle will work just fine, when you add up the parts $183.00 for summit racing gears(3.80:1 ratio), $100 for a bearing install kit, $325 for one of those posi units on ebayand it comes out to about $610 worth of parts(not including shipping). And thats not even including the cost of the 8" housing, he might only be making $100 on these units.

But the biggest reason for me to buy one of these pre-assembled 3rd members is the time, I dont have time to sit and set one up even though I have all the equipment available, i am working too dang much, I dont have enough time to play with my kids much less waste an entire day trying to assemble a 3rd member and if something goes wrong I have to start all over next week because I am luckey to get one day off a week anymore.

Its like the old adage you pay for it one way or another, you either pay for it with your time or you pay for someone elses time.
