    Probably grease pencil markings made by some mechanic when they serviced the car. We used to do that all the time for coolant checks - just not that big and obnoxious.

    That would be my guess ........... :)

    I hear you guys but the date on the right is Feb 3 1970. This is a 1970 car. I doubt it would have been serviced that quickly coming off the line. Just my thoughts!!!!

    Would have been checked at the dealer, before delivery.
    What's the vin? Does it have a stick, or a data plate?
    1970 Mavericks had been in production for 8 months or so, by Feb 1970.

    Then it's the 136680 scheduled for production so was built well into the '70 model year... What's the date on the data sticker???

    I will look tomorrow. Is the data sticker in the driver side door jam? Did you mean 236680 scheduled for production?

    Nope, all Fords started at 100000., so your car is the 136680th Maverick that year. (more or less)
