went to the track again and it done better. The balancer is covered in paint plus I didn't bring a timing light. I guessed the timing and seemed to have done better. It went a new personal best of 8.44 with a 1.84 ft. I also went a new best 60ft of 1.80 but decided to shift at 5800 and the car only went an 8.57. I plan to try again next week and have a timing light so the car may run 8.30's or so. all in all I am pretty satisfied with the car even if it's slower than an lt1 firebird lol

if you guessed at the timing, you could have bumped it up/down a little to see what if any difference it made. the light is only going to tell you...what it is...the motor will tell you...what it wants. try setting it with a vac. gauge...:bouncy:

Just to give you a rough idea about timing. My old bigblock pickup always ran 12.90's had the distributor out and plopped it back in where i thought it was seemed to run fine went back to the track and it only went 14.00's. Borrowed a timing light checked it was at 40 deg set it at 32 only moved the dist a 1/4 to achieve that and the thing went 12.70 best pass ever.So yes timing is critical.
