First of all... My trans(auto) is slow to engage upon take off, to the point that I song times have to drop it down to First and walk it back up to drive. It tends to hang around the 10/20 MPH limit, which makes me think that it's having trouble shifting to Second.

Then... Once I get up to speed, it will run in the 30 to 45 range ALL DAY, but even when I floor it it doesn't like to get above 50 or 60.

I was thinking this could just be a pedal or throttle asembly problem, but was hoping to glean some wisdom as to what it might actually be(if it is a trans problem.)

Thanks in advance for your time and efforts.

Check the adjustments on throttle linkage and kick-down linkage first.
Make sure you get WOT when the pedal is pressed to the floor.
Make sure the kick-down linkage has no more than 1/16" play when the throttle is wide open.
Check fluid level with the engine idling in Park. It should be between the FULL mark and half way to the ADD mark.
Make sure you are getting full vacuum at the modulator and that there is no oil in the hose.
Test the car in drive with light throttle pressure.
Test it again with moderate throttle pressure (1/3 pedal).
Test it again with full throttle.
Record and report the shift speeds 1-2 and 2-3 for each test.
with that info I can get a better idea of what is going on.
If the transmission slips (engine speeds up but car does not) then tell me when that happens and for how long.

The Trans is slipping on auto first/second sometimes, it probably just needs to be rebuilt, but I'm hoping to have my other Engine/transe before that.

I will do what you suggested, but it might be a few days, as I work LONG hours this week. Thanks in advance for the help.
