For those of you who are going to rewire their Mav/Comet, most aftermarket kits use "GM" style strip connectors, so you either have to cut/splice into your steering column turn signal (curved) connectors or black/brown ignition (square) connector.
What I have done is still use the OEM connectors and use new replacement pins, which are called Ford Wedge Lock Pins. Auveco p/n: 14887 (D1AB-14461-AA) are the Male pins and 14888 (D1AB-14488-CA) Female pins, come in box/package of 25 for around $11, have seen as low as $6 depending on which site purchased.
To remove the male pins, use small blade screwdriver to release the plastic retaining tab and push the pin out. To remove the female pin, remove the "red" plastic retainer and pin can then be removed. Install new pins onto your aftermarket wire harness and then insert back into OEM connector, using the factory wiring diagrams for reference. The factory connectors on your steering column remains untouched and new harness with factory connector plugs in!
If you want to return to factory harness, just remove pins from connector and install original harness.
Suggest writing down which pins go where before doing anything, just in case something happens, at least you can quickly put things back to original.........
