alt light on

i just got a new 100 amp 1 wire alternator and it works great but my alt light wont turn off. how do i fix this?

 

The wire from the alt light goes to the regulator. Did you remove the regulator?

 

no i left the regulator on

 

You don't need the regulator anymore, it is built into the 1-wire alternator. Remove it and the wires going to it. You will need a volt meter to monitor the electrical system if you have a true "one-wire" alternator. If you have a GM 1-wire, that actually has 3 wires, alternator then you could hook up the ALT light.

 

is there any way to have the alt light work with a one wire alt?

 

What name brand alternator do you have?
