A co-worker just bought a falcon drag car project with new wheels and tires on it that he wants to sell. He wants to run 4 equal sized American Racing Torque Thrusts, so these are for sale at half of the Summit racing prices. The wheels are Weld Draglights (draglites?) in 15X3.5 and 15X7 (or 8) using cheap 165R15 fronts and BFG 235 60 15 comp TA drag radial rears. The car never ran on them. The items are all new, with the little tits still on the tread surfaces of all of the tires, but they are of an unknown age. The rear tires have a very small amount of cracking just starting at the edges of some of the tread blocks. The falcon sat on this setup as an unfinished project. I want to use them on my 71 Grabber, will they fit? Any comments on their age, or past experiences with these tires & wheels?

i used the bfg drag radials on my 64 fairlane. they worked good and lasted quite well. i then switched to the m/t et streets and now i'm using the m/t et street drag radials. i wouldn't use the bfg's again, not knocking them but for strictly racing i think the m/t's are a better tire. i wouldn't hesitate to use them on a street/strip car. they won't last as long as a regular tire but they'll last longer than the m/t's.:)

Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
i'd say the rear spacing on them is way more then 4 inches. falcons barley can carry any dish on wheels. as far as how old they are well you really gotta make that decision on your own. my firend had one 65 falcon and i couldn't fit his wheels on my car.. even with the smaller tire it hit the leaf spring.

i agree with don 100% with everything! i had BFG.. nice tire for a radial and would run it on a car that i drove more then a weekend driving... good for a bit of cornering but for all out drag racing.. i'm sorry no thanks.

to me they don't even come close to a Mickey Thompson Streets or the new Radials! i know many say they can run great times on BFGs but i honestly think if they switched they run even faster!

Maverick Man, You were right about the back spacing. It was 4.5" and there was only about .1" clearance between the tire and the springs with 2.0" clearance to the fender lip. I am going to pass.

    Thanks everybody.
