My 2-week long trip to Guam for work could end up being 2-years to life, if I want it to. I need to sell my two daily drivers, and since Guam is so small, I am thinking I might ship the Maverick, rather than lose all I put into it by selling it, or putting it in a barn for multiple years.

If I can get it to Guam, it could be a good daily driver, and work will supply a second car for the wife.

Any idea how much it costs to ship overseas like that?

My wife used to work at a place that shipped cars and furniture in huge crates for military who were moving overseas. But she did not deal with the prices. We know it can be done, but don't know how much it will set us back.

Wish I could tell you it was like an auto part but I doubt very seriously it is. About a year ago I shipped a car radio to Guam and it costs me $8 less than an identical radio I shipped to California. Explain that one.

$8 less would be nice. My wife believes it was a couple thousand dollars, but doesn't really remember, as it was back when she was working part time in college.

    Guam

Kinda south of Japan, north of New Zealand, mid Pacific.

Little island that the US took over as an air force runway during WWII.

It is a US territory, but not respected enough to be a state, kinda like Puerto Rico.

Cool thing...my boss says if you take off on an airplane at 5pm on Saturday, you land in Hawaii Friday morning. THAT is screwing up my calendar :biglaugh:

Work the deals with your work....if they want you to do it then talk the talk. Make THEM pay to ship it.

Acually, around $1000 american. still a good price. Any suggestions...? I want the car to come with us, the wife wants the new leather couches to come. Can it happen together?

Your car and other belongings can be shipped together. Check out some of those links on that Google search.

Do you know any missionaries? They can give you advice.

well if you are working for the military there, they will ship one car free of charge and a 2nd car at a reduced rate. i would talk to the USAF base near you and call the Household goods shipping section. they can point you in the right direction for the people to talk to ...

but i will telly ou this.. parts will be scarce... gas is EXPENSIVE.... like$4.00 a liter.... 3.8 liters to a gallon.....figure that one out.... and Guam is very rainy....been there done that.. its like clockwork at times and you can set your watch to it. since it is an island in the middle of the pacific ocean, your car will rust out in no time since it is soo old.

i wouldnt recommend taking the mav... i would store it...and save your money....like 100 a month,....or whatever.... and when you get back....spend it all on getting the mav all nice... if you are working in guam... no fed taxes.... so you will save wuite a bit of money....

    good luck
