well i'm very curious... if i were to try to sell my 74 comet, what kind of asking price would i post?

It has 200 I6, with only 54000 original miles. Flawless interiour (other than cracks in dash). two available hoods (original and one with gi-normous scoop). The body is nothing impressive though. about $2200-US needs to be spent to fix body damage with paint job. new tires (winter). (picture can be found here: http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=23836, 14th post)

All that being said whats a fair asking price?
(please specify in US dollar to be clear)

If I spent the money to paint her, would it justify a $2200 increase in asking price?

I'm really not interesting in parting with the car just curious what she's worth to buyers.

well it being a I6, big bumprered, non-gt, brings the price down
    my guess would be $700-1200

if you would paint it and fix the body i would guess you could add another grand but thats it $1700-$2200

but then again i dont know alot about car estimates:90:

Spending $2200 on a paint job will seldom raise the value by the same amount. Its almost never a dollar per dollar when it comes to most cars.

I'd say $1500, and thats being generous because the interior looks to be in good condition. Being a big bumpered 6 cylinder car hurts it. I'd say $2000-2500 if the body was fixed RIGHT, the car ran drove decent, and ready for paint. I don't think I would paint it before selling it because you'll probably end up loseing more money then you would gain on that. It looks like a good car.
