I'm looking to replace the old rubber bushings in my '73 Grabber with some polyurethane ones to get better handling. I was wondering if a kit for an early mustang would work, and if so, have any of you had experience with using this kit http://store.summitracing.com/partd...908331+4294908282+4294925079+115&autoview=sku. I was looking at a P-S-T kit, but this one is a lot cheaper. thanks for your input,

    Ford Guy

Can't tell you about the application, but I have an ES kit in one of my cars, and the suspension feels GREAT! One "very" important part when installing them is, lubrication. Use all the lube they send, and if possible, buy another tube, this to avoid any unwanted squeak noises while driving.(y)

I wanted to replace all my rubber with poly, throughout the car.
However I have been told by several folks, that may or may not know, that poly has only a fraction of the life of the rubber used in suspension parts.
    Is this true?
I have seen poly objects in other applications fail quickly, is this the same poly used in suspension parts?

    Thanks
    Dave

Well, this is their warranty statement, "Energy Suspension warrants its products to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of two years from the date of purchase when used on passenger cars and light trucks", which is not a long enough period IMO. Mines have 2 years now, in a not daily driven car, but they are performing excelent.

Also be careful with the Strut Rod bushings, they should stay rubber, some of the Poly bushings are too hard and can snap the strut rod.
And as mentioned..lots-o-lube, I did my spring perches and their noisy.

Also, do I need to use a press to get the bushings on or can I do it myself with basic tools.

The early Mustang rear spring bushings are larger in outside diameter then a Maverick's. Many years ago before Maverick poly kits were available I used an early Mustang kit. Had to use a lathe to turn down the rear bushings. Got tired of lubing the squeeky antisway bar bushings, went back to rubber there. The rubber parts available nowadays is better than what these cars came with. I think they are actually synthetic now.

Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
get the ones pre done with zert fitting in them... then grease them... they don't make a sound ;)

if anything the sway bars mounts will be noisy... that also if you don't grease them. and grease them alot with the right stuff.. which is way nasty!!
