I am in need of a choke heat tube set for my 250, but I cannot figure out exactly which carb I have. The blue tag says D5DE-CA (backwards in pic). Is this a 2100 or a 2150? My Chilton book shows illustrations that don't seem to match the look of my carb. Also, if anyone knows of a place to get these parts, or if any member has them for sale, please let me know. I emailed one place a member had suggested, but they never responded. Thanks a lot.
Oh yes, no doubt it needs a rebuild. I plan to, but am reluctant to rebuild it if I am unable to find a heat tube set for it first. There is no electric choke conversion kit for this carb and I need to have the choke tubes first before I rebuild. Mine burned off at the manifold and the fresh air tube is completely missing.
Oh, forgot to answer your question. The tube from the choke to the exhaust manifold rusted away roughly 2-3" away from the manifold. The tube is still seated inside the manifold but is rusted away flush with it. Meaning no tube is protruding from the manifold. Also there is no longer a line running to the air cleaner either. I'm not sure about that line because its missing. I assume it goes from the first tube I mentioned, to the bottom of the air cleaner.
Yes, it is solid and runs 90% down the block. I'm trying to figure out a way to rig it for now. But as mentioned, I believe there is some other tube I need to rig to the air cleaner in this setup but I have no idea.
Well, I'm new to much of this and I've been all over the web, had my nose in books, youtube and this forum, trying to piece this all together. I read it somewhere and saw something on cjponyparys.com for mustangs. Just trying to figure it all out and being led in a few circles i guess.
You can still buy the choke heater tubes new at parts stores. The one going to the air breather is either your pcv fresh air intake or the hose from your charcoal cannister. Perhaps one of those is what your thinking of. OR You may also have a heat stove on the exh manifold that takes a large tube to the air cleaner snorkel for cold weather to prevent carb icing. Maybe someone of here has a nice pic of a factory complete set up for you.
Yes, a detailed pic would help. I am not finding pics that will help. Yes, I believe it may be the heat stove I read about. I'll have to go out and look at my engine after the rain stops. All of my local parts stores look at me like I'm from mars when I tell them what I need. They say they can't get that part. Advanced Auto says they can try to bend some line for me. We'll see.
Look for a parts store with a HELP section. It has all that old stuff. I know NAPA can order the old HELP parts. ITs how I got my window cranks for 4 bucks. The parts people your dealing with are probably too young to have a clue what your talking about. http://www35.lookhear.net/dorman-help-pcv-tube-assembly-46018 [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Dorman-HELP-76850-Choke-Heater/dp/B000CO96U4"]Amazon.com: Dorman HELP! 76850 Choke Heater Tube Kit: Automotive[/ame]
Thanks Darren I just found it on the JC Whitney site a few minutes ago for 10 bucks. I'll compare prices. You're right, they're way to young to know anything helpful it seems. Even Napa sent me away empty. Sheesh. I guess I need a cookie-cutter engine to find the parts I need......not!!
Does anyone know if the fittings in this kit would need to be welded into the manifold? I assume its not like some kind of pressure fit. I hope it has directions.....
You will find that your old heat stove is broke off inside the exhaust manifold. The important thing is to get the "heat" up to the carb. I would say just getting the end of the heat stove close to the manifold will do the trick.
Yeah, that's kinda my plan right now. I've got millerobsoleteparts looking now for a replacement, and have a Dorman option and Advanced Auto said they can bend tube to match. I guess I'll need to make a move soon.
If you are talking about the 1/8 inch line running to the carb drill out where it is rusted out tap it to 1/8 inch pipe thread get some 1/8 inch tubing and run it to the carb with a compression firtting on the other end thats what i did with mine when it rusted out
