I had work done on my car and had the carburetor replaced with this one on my l6. The old housing doesn't fit the new carburetor. The old housing has a recess, (bowl like shape) under it so it didn't sit to high. Does anyone know what housing I need to get for it to fit under the hood with this carburetor?

This is the car so you can see the hood. It's the regular hood.

So your stock air cleaner housing doesn't fit? That looks like a YF, same as a Maverick uses. I guess I'm missing why it will not go onto that carb in your picture? Is your air cleaner not a Maverick one?

The original was a Carter single barrel carburetor but a different one than this one. I guess this is a later model of it. The housing for the old one doesn't have a big enough hole to fit to this one.

Yes, Carter RBS and the Carter YF were both used in the Maverick depending on what I-6 motor you had. But I didn't know the air cleaner housings were different. I thought they had the same size opening ............

Do you know where I can find a housing for the YF?

I'm sure you can find one super cheap by placing a wanted ad in the classifieds - but hold off a minute until someone can confirm if there is a difference in the air cleaners for a YF and an RBS. I am still thinking they are the same for all I-6 Mavericks.

There is a difference because I tried using my old housing on it and it wouldn't fit

What is that YF you have from? They used YF's on dozens of different cars including Mopar and Jeep. Is that a Ford YF?

I just measured the Maverick YF carb - it has an opening for the air cleaner of 2 5/8" - what is yours?

Learn something new everyday .................... :yup:

I would say throw an ad in the classified wanted section. One of the guys will have one for you.

The YF is definitely 2 5/8"

Yall have to consider the choke housing, is sometimes up on the top side. Some Filter housings have clearance for this, a domed area. If this is not an issue ,the housing could be enlarged!
