http://www.ebay.com/itm/230573791899?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 I am trying to find a good set of rear disc brakes. Would pre-fer the refer.. oh wait...lol. (make ya laugh?) Would like to get everything in the kit to at least be able to mock up. Cheaper the better, but up grade-able in the future/further down the build. I have the Big Ford - New style flanges / No Axels yet.
With the large-bearing "Torino style" ends. IIRC, the small-bearing ends will take the Crown Vic brakes...
No, not the old Torino style big ends. The explorer brakes fit the new style big ends that Lzoesch has.
Hmmm, I've always heard the Torino and big-bearing ends were the same. After looking at some charts, they are not. Sorry for my misconceptions...
the ebay kit you posted sucks. its based on 70s developed calipers. the explorer kit is good for a cheap kit but not really upgradeable. with the caliber of car your building, their are kits for the mustang cobra that would be more in line with what your car is going to be. at that point you would be close to the cost of the willwood kits. the willwood brakes are lighter weight and upgradeable with different rotor options and calipers.
I thought that too unil I found out otherwise. The bearing size may be the same but the bolt pattern is definitely different. Bryant, while I totally agree with you... I have so little invested in my explorer setup that if I just threw it all away to do an upgrade it wouldn't be that big of a deal. I wouldn't need to do that though because if I upgraded later my son has a mountaineer and could maybe use the parts and I could always sell the backing plates/brackets and e-brake cables or give them to somebody who needs them.
