HELP! last weekend at a car show, the keys to the mav were supposedly locked in the trunk and as soon as my father pulled the back of the back seat up, my grandmother found teh keys in her pocket. NOW I CAN"T GET THE SEAT BACK TO GO BACK ON!!!! there are some mounting brackets in the way and as far as i can tell the whole thing needs to be raised up about a half inch to put it back on, can any one figure out an easier way to do this, or know what im talking about all????? PLEASE HELP PUT MY MAV BACK TOGETHER!!!!

Lift the seat up about 2" above the rear shelf. Push back AND down on the top of the seat so the clips will slip into the brackets.

    Rear Seat Back

Sometimes those can be real stubborn to put back in place, the easy way for me is to remove the seat bottom by pushing towards the trunk and lifting up on the front to remove from the mounting clips. This should make putting the seat back in it's mounting clips a bit easier. Sometimes it takes quite a bit of force to get the back pushed far enough rearward to engage the clips and then push it straight down as Jean said. Two people are sometimes needed to do this, after the back is in place put the bottom back in by the same method. Push backwards and down to engage the clips. Another thing to do while the seat bottom is out, pick up all the loose change and buy yourself a burger and drink etc. I also clean this area of other debris(mice droppings, combs, etc.) Good luck and stay cool.

They can be a pain sometimes, there are times when mine doesn't wanna go back on either I just lift it up hinge it onto the brackets then slam it back down usually goes right back into place. I think there are supposed to be bolts on there as well but mine are missing if thats the case. Kinda wish Mavs had fold down rear seats :)

MavJoe; that would make an interesting mod. Food for thought, and a winter project. If you could make a good kit to sell.............

Never thought about that Earl, I agree it would be an interesting mod although more then likely i'd just end up buying a new back seat that already folded i'm planning on redoing my entire interior anyway. Wanna go with sporty bucket seats (like in the Stallion) hadn't planned on changing the back seat but now you got me thinkin here :).
