Well I started at 8:00 am this morning, had to go to UPS and get the air cleaner I ordered from Classic Ford and run by the parts store to get a riser for it and do a few more car part searches. I came back home and installed the air cleaner, washed and cleaned my engine bay for the 2nd time this week (lots o' rain) and while I was at the auto parts I picked up a nice set of triple gauges and in stalled them.....but the thing I am most proud of is the white face gauges I finally got around to doing. They really turned out nice and I also remembered I had some small Ford stickers from a model I put together last year and added those to the gauges for a factory look.

    Re: Header and Gauges

I installed the header a few weeks ago just to see how it sounded......very unique with no pipes! I took it back off because I have an A/C compressor clearance issue. I need to set the compressor away from the block 2 inches and have made some spacers with those round alternator spacers but still need to extend a flat bracket on the front of the engine. It's still warm here and I like my A/C better than the header right now, but it fit great around the starter. I have the high mounted one. I ordered the Pacemaker Aussie dual outlet header. About the gauges, yes those are the ones from Whitegaugeguy on e-bay picked them up for 14.00 with shipping.

    Re:Header

Yes, that's the same one although I didn't spend the extra for the jet hot coating, I don't know if this inline 6 will satisfy my need for power enough. I've had some really fast cars before and have been away from the muscle cars for about 12 years now, got married, had a kid, bought the family cars....you know. The only reason I bought this Maverick was I had one when I was in High School and it was stolen and wreaked and I remember really liking that car for some strange reason. I've done the 5.0 Mustangs thing and some 65's and 67's but something just clicked when I saw this car, plus it's in great shape and was cheap. BTW I know a 460 will go into a fox body Mustang and the 67's came with 390's but will they fit into a Maverick without cutting the shock towers, I put a 460 into an 86 stang by using the shorty style headers with no other major mods.

    Wishing I had one...
On those guages... how hard was it to install the required senders? I have never done it before and don't know what it involves :p

Also I noticed the vent above the guages... I could have swore I have seen pics of dashes with no vents there? Also what does that sticker say?

    Re:Gauge install

Good news, no senders to install  these were mechanical. you remove the exsisting dummy light senders from the engine and replace with a temp probe, and an oil fitting with a small plastic hose to the oil pressure gauge and for the volts a ground wire and a positive to a switched source. very simple it took 45 mins. 39.95 at Summit Racing. On the dash: This early Maverick came with factory A/C and it blows COLD I was always told the 69.5 had dealer add on air only. The sticker is a warning label to set the parking brake, buckle up,bla bla bla.

    Later, Jerry
