a good ole mechanical will work just fine but if you insist or need an electric I have always just bought cheapies unless you are feeding a ton of horsepower....stock level to mild 300fwhp I would run a store bought one.....50.00 or less I would mount it on rubber to keep the noise and vibes down
Whichever you use, do as Mavowar says and mount to rubber. I even hung mine from 2 metal hangers with rubber between the hangers and the pump, and the hangers and the frame. I am using a holley 110 gph model. Red or Blue, don't remember which.
i would say stay mechanical if your motor has stock heads and cam. the holley red and blue pumps are noisy. the mallory pumps are as close to silent as you can get. if you plan on building a motor with gobbs of power then you will want to plan ahead and get a pump that will be able to feed that motor.
If you want to go electric, use a Mr Gasket 12S pump. This is a low pressure unit that's plenty of flow for a carb and pretty quiet. Needs no regulator.
Can't argue with that! Just make sure you get the one for your line size 3/8" or 5/16". I bought the 5/16" and should have gotten the 3/8". Had to use adapters to hook it up. They are quiet. Just barely able to hear mine before start up, kind of like a new car. It keeps up with my 600 Holley on my 302....
