I have a 1970 2dr Maverick. The e brake is hand operated, it is on the "dash".

The problem is that the cable snapped right at the end of the ebrake-handle tube. I can see a little "knob" (the top of a screw? )poking out of the top of the tube, and I assume that inside the tube the cable was fastened to the screw. The ebrake cable is still poking through the firewall, and I had to untagle it from the "pulley" roller wheel. The problem is I can't see how to reattach the cable to the handle (or the screw inside it..).

    Any advice?

The little post sticking up is a pin that keeps you from pulling the handle all the way out of the holder. You have to get a small punch and drive that pin out from the opposite side. Then the handle will come out. There is a ball on the end of the cable which goes into a hole in the bottom end of the handle/rod. You will see it once you get it out.

    Whoa...

I never would have thought of that. I'll try it first thing tommorow. I searched around a little bit on the old archived msg boards but I didn't see anything (the layout is really freaky on those old boards).

I'll let you know what happens.
