I'm kinda new to the Maverick world but ,I was told that the color of my Maverick is a rare factor option. It is the original orange. Could someone please tell me weath my friend was right or is it common.

The first Mavericks, 69.5, came in an orangish color called "Thanks Vermillion." It was fairly common that year. Other colors that year were "hullablue" and "Freudian Guilt." Fortunately Ford grew out of this naming convention by 1971. Some of these earlier colors were not used in later years.

    Bjorn,

Thanks for the great link. I was looking for touch up paint for my yellow Grabber.

BTW Austin, if you look at the paint chips for the different years, it looks like the vermillion color was dropped in 1970.

I looked at the pictures of your car in the Gallery. It isn't a 69.5, unless the Grabber hood was added later. I sent you a PM about it.

You can tell what the original color was from Vehical Certification Tag on the inside of the Driver's door. You can match the color code on your car to the paint chips on the link provided by Bjorn.

It's hard to tell in your pics. Some look more red than orange. Ford used a color called 'bright red'. It had different paint codes depending on the year. It has a lot of orange in it. See my pics and Dan Hines car for 'Bright Red'. It looks real orange in flourescent lighting.

from what i have been told the only thing that make a 69 1/2 is the ignition in the dash and mine has that. It just has alot of other parts put on it to make it a grabber clone
