Is anyone aware of a site or person with the ability to locate a Maverick through the VIN? I'd like to know what ever happened to my 73' Grabber.
If you can find a cop thats willing to bend the rules, thats the only way to find it through the VIN. And even that's not super reliable because the car could have changed hands several times without the new owners haveing it put in their name. My '76 has changed hands at least 3 times without the car being registered, there is no telling who would come up as the registered owner if the VIN was ran on that car.
CARFAX.COM. We have used them to track VIN history and they can based on state records and insurance data. Not sure how far back they go. Most of what they do is for current used cars and help OEM's locate cars that have salvage titles.
Carfax will only tell you the state and county the vehical is in. Won't give you a name or address due to privacy laws or something like that. And it only goes back to '81 model year which was when the 17 character VIN's became standard.
