Has anyone used one of those flex-a-lite fans. I am thinking of getting a 6 blade fan. My friend has a 57 Chevy and he had one and said it made his car overheat. Any experiences?
I don't know about the Flex-A-Lite belt driven flex fans, I assume they should work fine. The majority of people here are running belt driven fans of some type, and they work fine. Maybe your friends 57 lacked a shroud or had some other cooling problem??? -Corbin
Corbin is right about the shroud. Any fan, unless it id dead up against the radiator needs a shroud. The further away from the radiator it is, the more ineffecient it becomes without one.
I have one on my I-6 200, it blows a whole hell of a lot more air than the stock one but I don't much care for the higher pitch buzz that it makes, not annoying enough for me to get rid of it but still not quiet enough to make me happy. Car seems to run a bit better with it.
How much drag does a fan create? I have an old four blade one on the mav, Ive been thinking of buying something aftermarket that is lightwieght. any suggestions. this is a roller 302 I'm talking about.
