Yeah....it was FREE!!!!! I was talking with the owner of Strictly Performance one evening last week concerning a sponsorship package for the upcoming Ultra Stang season in FFW. Strictly will be one of my sponsors for the 2007 season. Plus, I whipped up a proposal for him so he could get in on some sponsor money for his NMRA Super Street Outlaw car. Anyway...we were standing out in the shop near the dynos when I glanced out the back door. It was almost dark but I could clearly see a Maverick sitting at the back of the property. Wandered out there and thought I would get something more out of the sponsorship package. :evilsmile I told Richard, "I'll come drag that thing off this Saturday." His comment? "Come get it because I want it gone." Cool. Free works for me. So we drag the damn thing home and here it sits. Right behind the "Perpetual Fairmont" that nobody seems to want. Upon further inspection it appears the car is a 1969 1/2 six-cylinder automatic. Body isn't too bad except for the passenger rear. Interior....can't tell yet due to the presence of more crap than I cared to drag out of the car. Plus, the garbage cans are full right now. That task will wait until later in the week. Cold front is coming so it can sit for a while. Can't get the driver's side door open but I can cure that. All in all....not bad for free. Even gives the resident wino a reason to call me a cheapazz for a change.
ShadowMaster, I will give 50% more than what you paid for it! Just kidding, That is one great freebie. A 69 1/2 at that! Nice find! Jerryfow2
good deal interior looks sweet with the sweet rolls and pringles and all those cool stickers on the dash
Richard offered it to me when I had my Maverick dyno'd there. I just don't have enough room or patience for another project. Good luck with the resto.
What was the deal with all the oil on the engine? Rick and I looked at it when he got his car dyno'd and it seemed to have at least 6 quarts ON TOP of the engine... I was scoping out the valences and bumpers, but knew the guy wanted the entire car hauled off, and I didn't have any room for it. We told Fan2488 about it, I thought we told you at the same time...I guess not, memory is starting to trick me...must be too much box-wine Anyway, glad you got it. Can't wait to see what you end up doing with it. Be sure to have BEFORE/AFTER pics for comparison...I am sure we will all be very impressed. Any ideas what you might do with it? OR do you want to keep quiet until it is done...
Being the professional azzhole that I've been accused of being....... I'll probably do another "Project Low-Buck" just to prove a point or two. Then again...I've got this urge to go shanghai the G-Force five speed that Richard has been trying to get me to buy and build a 393" Cleveland. I'm not sure right now. With the FFW season coming on quickly and an Ultra Stang title to be defended I can say with some certainty that whatever I decide to do with the car it won't be finished in a month or so. Plus, this Thunderbird isn't exactly wanting to sacrifice any of her build money to other projects.
I see a decent car in good hands. I expect a good project out of this...don't let us down And SCREW that Thunderbird...this ain't no "Thunderbird Forum"
Awesome! Got you a factory A/C '69.5 there. When you get the door open, post up the codes so we can see just how early of a Maverick it is. Or better yet, what's the VIN? Free is always good. I got a few of mine for free, and drove two of the free ones home. If you turn that into a drag car, I'll take all the original wireing/ignition switch and insturment cluster off your hands. Just let me know...
I find it amusing...someone finds a nice car for cheap or FREE, and everyone immediately wants a part or two off of it...This is NOT a parts car... But, I wouldn't mind that grill with the center ornament Maybe that front bumper...
Yea, and my '72 Grabber is NOT a parts car either, but that didn't stop 17 people from sending me a PM wanting parts off of it. All I'm saying is if he is going to turn it into a full on drag car and will not be reuseing those parts, then I want them... nothing amusing about it.
