I have bought all moog replacement parts for my 73. I rebuilt the power piston and control valve, so basically I am swapping all parts. I have installed all the new parts but do not know where to start to making all the adjustments. Do I start with the tie rods for the LCA or the eccentric bolts or the steering linkage? Are there certain measurements to start with and then fine tune? I guess I just need a starting point because I do not want to spend hours chasing my tail. I looked for threads with a how-to but have not been successful.
Do you have access to proper equipment to do an alignment? If not, I'd get the toe as close as possible with a tape measure, take it to a shop and have it done right.
Ok, thanks. I was planning on taking it to someone but just wanted to get it close, to be able to drive it there. Now on to xmsn/engine rebuild. Whoo hoo, making progress
As long as wheels are setting approx same in wells(caster)[will be closer in front than rear]), are setting straight top to bottom(camber, can use a plum-bob), and toe is close, It'll probably drive OK... For toe-in measure from center of tread at exact same height front and rear... Toe is the critical adjustment, have it off even slightly and tires will quickly wear... I've had mine back apart swapping springs after replacing all steering/suspension components and have experimented with adding additional caster... Drives good and at approx 1000 miles is yet to be aligned...
