Here's the deal I've always been a kid of EFI. Although I have dabbled with carbs a bit. Regardless....I have a Mav with a mild 308 and it seems that over 4k it wants to break up really bad. Almost like it's running out of gas. This car is a 250 I6 to V8 conversion. Here's the specs and the question. Is it possible that the I6 fuel lines can't handle the new motor?

    308-302 bored .040
    Crower .500 cam
    Original Torker 289 intake
Eddy 170 cc Perf RPM Heads 2.02/1.60 valves
    LT Hooker 6901 Headers
    Holley 750 carb
    Stock Mech fuel pump
    Electric Fan on thermo control
    C4 with shift kit
    300 rear gear
    Scorpion 1.6:1 roller rockers
    Crane XRi Points conversion kit

    Thanks guys for the input!

i would check teh eletroinc conversion. make sure nothing is loose in the distrbtor. a 750 is too big for you motor but it wouldnt cause the problem you have. it could be a phaseing problem in the distrbtor also.

Stock 6 fuel lines are the same as the v8, my car with the 347 runs just fine with stock lines, I would suspect a plugged fuel filter, filter in the carb or restriction from tank (plugged sock) or floats in carb set wrong.

Might try pulling fuel line off of the fuel pump and turning engine over (unhook coil wire so it wont start) and see how much fuel it will put in a container for amount of time it is cranked.

Always be careful when playing with fuel

    Good luck

Good info! Thanks guys! That's good to know that the fuel lines will support a 347! My next build for the car is a Boss 347!

It cant hurt to upgrade the lines though but you are restricted at the tank by the tube coming out of the sending unit I do believe maybe not an issue. Boss 347 yee haw :thumbs2:

Had to change the fuel pump on my 302 for the same thing. Ran out of gas at upper rpm's. I got a Summit 80gph pump, and have had no problems since. Btw, using the stock 6cyl fuel lines, work good!
