Been driving this car daily for almost 9 years now (how the hell did that happen so fast? ). Decided to pop 40 bucks for a marti report on it. I knew it was from the L.A. area of California by the DSO 71, but always wondered exactly which dealership it came from. Apparently Maywood-Bell Ford is long out of business unfortunately, and the building doesn't even exist anymore. The break down of options is pretty cool. Does anyone know what convenience group and decor group are?
I'm still amazed that you spent the money on one, it's not like you to care about the history of a car.
I've researched the history to some extent of every vehicle I've owned, though this is the first time I've spent money doing so.. lol I've been driving this car so long now it's almost hard to imagine it had already been around for 33 years by the time I started driving it. Much less that it's made it's way all the way across country, been registered in several states and repainted 3 different colors. It's got 4 of the previous owner's names listed on the old title I got with it going back to 1989. I've gotten kind of fascinated with researching it deeper as of late. I hope I'm able to get ahold of at least one of the previous owners. I'm pretty sure the woman that titled it in 1989 is still alive, but I have determined the guy she sold it to in 2000 died in 2008. It's amazing what you can find if you have a name and address and dig around on the internet.
Jamie You are right May wood Bell Ford is long gone. I went to work for Hadley Auto Transport a Ford Motor company contract carrier for 79 years . I went to work for Hadley in 1990 as a car hauler and driver at that time we were not delivering to M.B.F. Jay
Yep I've found the orig owner of my Comet would be 101 if still living, apparently she passed away around 17 years ago... Interestingly she traded a '66 Comet for it... The paper work with it shows four prev owners but no info on #3...
A little off topic but a story I like to repeat. My other car came with a warrantee card that listed the original owner and an address in Atherton, CA. For years, I wondered who he was. A few years back, I had the car at a show in Palo Alto, CA and Atherton is nearby. After the show, we loaded the car on the flatbed and decided if we could find the house. I knocked on the door and was met by a little old lady. I asked if she knew the owner, she said it was her husband. I told her I had her car outside. She had not seen it since 1967. She described how her family moved to Belgium for a short time and bought the car there. When they moved back, they brought the car with them. She described a ski trip to Tahoe in 1967. With no antifreeze, the block cracked and they left the car in Reno. Her husband and son had since passed away. We took the car off the truck and I drove her around the block. Later, she sent me pictures of her and her husband in Belgium when they bought the car. I still send her a Christmas card every year. http://www.jag-lovers.org/snaps/snap_view.php3?id=1227497181 Micah
Stuff I've found on the previous owner of my car says she is 70. I haven't found any obituary's on her and found a current address so I'm assuming she's still living. I have all the original paperwork on my '72 C10 pickup as well, I plugged that guy's name and address in and it says he's 107 years old, so I'm assuming he's dead. Did find the guy who had my '71 F250 is apparently 68 years old and still living at the same address listed on the truck paperwork, not far from where I live, and he is apparently a Reverend. If the truck was running I'd drive it over there and knock on the door. That's awesome!
