How do you grease the a-arm bushings? After driving my Mav for like 30 mins the right a-arm starts squeeking loud and annoyingly.

    Thanks,
    Jon

I've seen a lot of guys blow holes in the shock towers to access the fittings where the grease nipples are with the gas axe, brutal. I'va also seen some take a hole saw to do a neater job:mad: . But you don't have to do this. There are little plugs on the ends of the upper control arm bushings that you can take out with a little patience (and maybe some cussing) and install some 90 degree grease nipples in place of the plugs. I have done this before a long time ago so I can't exactly say how much I cussed at it but I did get it done. This should take care of your squeak.(y)

Does that look like this?? I didn't put the hole in it but I also didn't fix it, so I am almost just as guilty as the guy with the torch.

Jonny; if you go to Mustangs Unlimited, or any of the Mustang restoration houses, they sell a 90degree kit that goes in the upper arms. It is about $15-20, and it comes with the tool and instructions. Not too hard, took me about an hour, and when you grease it up, quietens it right down. Good luck!

I have owned a 70 and 76 Mav and they both squeaked like crazy in the winter especially. Thank god for the internet............found a tool that screws into the hole the plug comes out of. Comes with special round tool that scews into hole, wrench and several other grease needles for various suspension pieces and some grease zerts I had extra.

Cleaning my stuff out lately and don't want to throw out.
Can send pics to your email. $ 11.50 shipped.......like 30 bucks back in the day.
