There are 2 self resetting circuit breakers built into your headlight switch. One controls the headlights themselves, the other controls all the other lights in the car. Either you have a short somewhere that is over loading a circuit, or the switch is bad. Another thing that can cause this, voice of experience, is you put too many lights in the circuit and it is just overloaded.
From the sounds of this,,like Mavaholic says,,,go with a new headlight switch. Any parts store should have it. If still flickering, look for extra lights an shorts. May want to pull headlight bulbs an "clean" or replace connectors.
I had that problem a few weeks back. Turned out to be a loose wire on the alternator and a bad ground. Trace the wiring, and see what you find.
i tryed the switch and regulater but its worse now it doesnt just dim it goes completly off and on at about 2 to 3 sec intervols and my tail lights dont work?
Sounds like you have a short thats tripping the circuit breakers on the head light switch or perhaps a bad ground.I would lean towards a short judging by the symptoms.
just a thought Bang on the dimmer switch a few times. I always check this. Missed the "taillights don't work" part. Do the basiic stuff. Replace the fuse. Clean the battery terminals. If your + battery cable has 2 wires (big and little) is there a buncha corrosion there?? Ben
na no corosion and new termanals just dubble ckecked and all is good . i put up another post asking if any 1 could tell me what color is what on the switch connections so i can bypass the bad wires and run new ones.
