So I'm trying to undo the damage done by someone who thought a bad heater core meant they should just hack all the heater hoses out of my car. Bought a new core and enough hose to replace both. Looking around for pics I realized I either can't find or don't have a heater control valve. Do I really need the whole vacuum operated valve bit, because I really don't like the idea of spending another 80 bucks on this car this week.
Anyone got a pic of where they are on a factory A/C car anyway?

My truck just had a manual valve with a knob under the hood if you ever wanted to shut off coolant flow to the core, which I never did because I only don't use the heat for like 3 months out of the year even if it's just to defog the windshield. Is there any reason that I couldn't run like that with coolant moving through the core all the time?

High 30's-low 40's in the morning are killing me. Not fun being able to see your breath inside the car because the only heat is what comes through the firewall and trans tunnel.

It HAD A/C, compressor locked up and most of it was removed, doesn't get hot enough long enough around here for me to care to fix it so I'm just going to finish removing it since some key components are missing or damaged, and I'd rather cruise with the windows down in the summer around here anyway.

71Gold, what application is that valve from? $14 is a lot easier to swallow than $78.
