Hello everybody. I am new here but I have owned and driven Mavericks for years. I still have the Grabber blue 1970 Maverick Grabber that I drove to high school. It had a 200 cid six in it then and my sister owned it at that time (she couldn't have a car at Iowa State her first year). I bought it from her after she got married and drove it for about a year until it developed a dime-sized hole in the top of number six piston. I replaced the six with a 289 special out of a 1963 Fairlane and did that ever make a difference in the performance. My ex-wife always told me I loved that car more than I loved her, well I still have the Grabber and she has not been around in years. I also own a brown 1975 2door that is sitting with no engine, I have a 250 in the shop ready to install but my brother keeps telling me I would be happier with a V8 and I am still thinking about it. I also own several Maverick parts cars.

She tried to get the Maverick in the divorce but since I had owned it before we were married it was not considered community property and she could not take the car, she was just doing it for spite anyway.

That is why I can never sell that old Grabber. She did come and bust the windshield when she found out that she could not get the car, but I had a parts car sitting right next to it so it didn't take long to change.

I will get around to posting some pictures later.

Welcome aboard Stomper, glad to have you here. I too have a Mav I've owned for 31 years now. It's just one of my 71 Grabbers, had it longer than my wife and she too has made the comment many times about which one I love the most. She's been pretty good though...still have both of them.:)
