I was just reading the new Car Craft mag, and ran across what I think is one of the best looking Mavericks I ever saw. Doing a little net searching on the subject led me here where the owner of said car is a member. I have a special place for the Mav/Comet as my first car was a 71 Comet GT with an anemic 250, 6 cyl., and C4. I later pulled the sick six out, and built my first performance engine, a real Boss 302. I scored a 9" rear out of a 57 Ranchero, and 5 lug front drums off a 70's Torino. I had custom pistons made from Aries at 12:1, and I had to hand shape the dome. I ordered Crower stainless steel roller rockers, and a Crane cam, along with a Weiland tunnel ram {I really wanted the Gapp/Roush single plane intake, but it was/is rare}. I learned quite a bit with that car, which has led me where I am today with doing everything everything on a car myself {except for machining engine parts}. Here is an old picture I found today of that car. If you notice the huge pro-stock hood scoop, I can tell you it was good at hiding cars at the gas pump as I almost hit one after fueling up. Anyway here is the car.
Welcome to the board. If you go to the Gallery there's lots of nice cars there. Here's another thread on Toms car. His wife's maverick was in a few years ago. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=82535
Thanks. I have to wonder where that car is now. I sold it when my wife and I got married, and pulled the engine to go into another project. I'll never forget waiting on those special order Headman Headers for nearly a year, then taking about two days to get them on. Here are some of my ponys. Eleanor engine Horsepower TVs Mustang on bottom, and my black restomod on top. Wife's car..
Welcome! Nice looking cars there. And no this site isn't like others where you get blasted for posting pictures of other cars. At least they are in the same family.
Naah...We like mustangs, they make good parts cars for our Mavs... Just kidding man...That squeezed FE must be a riot to wheel around. Sharp looking cars you have man!!!
Thanks guys. I would like to say I AM a Ford guy to the end. If you ever see a post by me with a chebby engine in my Ford, then please delete it, as someone has highjacked my account..........lol. I will try to pull some more pictures of my old Comet GT out of the photo books for a look back at the 80's.
Welcome Train! Those are some great lookin Stangs. I saw a Stang like ur's at the NSRA meet in Kalamazoo, MI. @ September meet. It had an FE motor and it was a nice car "to say the least". It did'nt have the plumbing/turbos ur cars have. I thought under his hood was tight "U got him beat". Like to C more angles of the install.
