So I didnt get any help on here, with searching for a mechanic. Oh well. I wound up by tackling the cooler lines myself. I was only able to get one off. Anybody know how to get the other one off? Where it connects at, on the transmission, there is no room for me to get any tools in there to loosen that line off. Did anybody else master this problem yet??? :burnout:

yup, every person who has ever pulled the transmission out of one of these cars has had to deal with it. there is room, you just gotta be under there long enough.

You can put a jack under the transmission, remove the two bolts that attach the transmission mount/crossmember to the frame, and lower the transmission some to get some room.

that's how I used to do it...after about 10 times, I cut the lines where they turned and straightened out and put a coupler in the line. then I just took it loose at the coupler...:thumbs2:

Lower it just enough to get access to the fittings. Too much and something could bend or break.

The fan could hit the missing shroud lol
    I also have a coupler..
Try using a crows foot line wrench..

    Removing Transmission lines

You need to use the right wrench specifically for lines:
    Flare Nut Wrench

They are available as open-end or as a "Crows Foot" that you use a socket ratchet and extention, and/or a universal joint.

I assume this way worked. Is the crossmember closer to the front or rear of the car.

it is to the back...the transmission sits on it. the fitting is two piece, don't break the nipple in the transmission.

By all means, protect the nipple.
