Hey Guys! If you had an unlimited amout of money and you had both the cleveland and the windsor (you know which ones I'm talking about ), which one would you put in your Mavey, and why? I'm just curious because I'm trying to decide which one to use when the time comes and I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place here. I keep switching back and forth, so I was looking to see what some pros would say! I wrote this post last night, but for some reason, it didn't post, and I'm very upset because the one I wrote last night was much better. Anywho, lemme know your opinions!
With unlimited funds, either one will work. Have it done professionally and use more money to take a cruise to warmer climate. Seriously, I prefer the windsor because of availability of parts and "some" interchangeability with 302 stuff. After you make your decision, you could send me some money for a trip to Hawaii for me and the Mrs. Am sick of this cold weather already.
If I had unlimited dough... I would use a Manowar block at 4.155" bore and 4" stroke. Get big block cubes from a small block. Then, since it is a W block, I would use some killer W heads, like AFR. That's just me, though. Also, that is with unlimited money. You know what they say, 'absolute power absolutely corrupts'. If I had reasonable funds, not unlimited, and had to choose between 2 engines that I already had cores for... It would be Cleveland, all the way. Just for some of the reasons listed here. They are just too cool. Dave
Cleveland, because the thermostat is really easy to change , and they are just cool. Plus, that is what was in the Tijuana Taxi and that is just cool too.
i was thinking niether, go with a JDM engineering 5.4 3 valve long block w/ kenne bell supercharger around 700 hp 800 tq M2 front, if a lightning runs 10s imagine how fast a mav would be... or take the 5.4 DOHC GT engine...and put it in a mav but W or C? hmmm prolly W i am new school i dont know alot about Cs like Dave said (and someone else is doing ) Dart block AFR/TFS R series/ Vic SR/ Blue Thunder heads what ever pleases me at the moument... i could go on forever but i am just dreaming
aluminum block, 4.25" stroke billet crank, billet steel rods 6.250", 4.125" bore, 1.095 compression height flat tops, low drag rings, Yates heads fully ported, dry sump oiling, 288-275 @ .050" solid roller...850-ish lift on a 110, single 110mm turbocharger, FAST injection, etc etc...and it goes into a Maverick body with a good moly chassis. 2500 HP=no problem. Just takes cubic dollars.
I have no reason to turn an engine at the speeds it takes to make the Cleveland breathe properly so I would use the Windsor. The windsor has a higher volumetric efficency than the Cleveland until you get around 8000 rpm. Then the Cleveland has a higher VE. If you want an efficent 10000 rpm engine then choose the Cleveland. If you want a daily driver that turns 6000 then the Windsor wins.
If I had unlimited money, I'd put a 5.4 out of a Ford GT in a Maverick with twin turbos and go whip up on some sport bikes. But I don't, so I won't.
