well i went and looked at it. It is a three speed manual on the column. It ran good the body was good only two major things i saw and need some advice on. The clutch needs adjustment bad. It starts grabbin way high, and kinda feels rough. It need adjustment and or replacement. Any tips or how to on adjusting the clutch? And the brakes pull hard right. I am asssuming it is proablly an adjustment on the left side, shouldnt be hard to fix, But any pointers on that?? It is manual brakes and steering, but has air conditioning. I still need to decide if i want to give 600 for it.. Any any pointer on the above?? Or new comments from the new info?? LAter chris
1: If the body was good, and rust free... Don't even worry about the rest, BUY IT! 2: The clutch may need work, or you may just not be used to a 70s clutch. If you drive modern clutch cars made since, they have hydraulic clutches (very few have cables) and operate much different. Hydraulic and cable both give you a 'detached' feeling of the driveline. The old style with solid linkage is like manual steering and gives you tons of 'road feel'. 3: Drum brakes are horrible in general. They pull when they are done 'right'. Get the car and come to this site and study how to install disc brakes on the front and you will be much happier and safer. Good luck Dave
i proably will buy it but they have to find the title first, she is in a nursing home, or get a new one. Besides if i buy it, and dont like it, i know i can resell later, proably to some one on here. Speaking of reselling, if i bought it and need to sell it, what aRE my chances of resellin it here? Would anybody be interested? If it came down to it?? later!! chris
Where are you located? I suggest getting it as cheap as you can. If you suggest that an auto tranny would make it more desireable, and the clutch may need expensive work, they will surely haggle down. Then, sight unseen, I feel comfortable in saying that you should have no trouble getting at least 6 bills for a rust free body. Dave
