I stopped by Ecology junk yard Wednesday and got lucky. There was a clapped out 71 Comet 2 door on the yard. All the body panels were rusty as all get out with a couple of exceptions.
    The front valance was perfect.
The bumper filler panel was almost perfect (minor dent where they had used a rod to prop open the hood).
Both front and rear bumpers were in pretty good condition. Rear has bumper guards installed. Front has minor chrome peeling in an area about 2" X 4" on Driver side. I plan to either get it rechromed or have it sandblasted, smoothed and powder coated black. Haven't really decided yet.
All brackets were there and in good shape. I will be trying to make a pattern for the two extra support brackets the Comet bumper has that the Maverick doesn't.
Grill was cracked in a couple of places but not noticeably so. I plan on using this grill as a pattern to make a custom grill. Have to see how it turns out before I go any further.

Rear valance had been crushed when they put the car in the yard. taillight panel was totally rusted out, rear quarters, doors, roof rails, A pillars front fenders down low, etc. Floors looked good. Roof looked bad. Hood was pretty much missing the front two inches. Basically, the rest of the car was junk. There may be some interior parts that would be worth recovering. Rear seat, side panels, etc. Front seat was a worn out bench. door panels were destroyed.

So I picked up the front and rear bumpers, front filler panel and valance, front grill with lights. It was a good day.

Going back next weekend for the Dana 60 from the 71 Camper Special F-250 to use in my 53 F-250. Holiday weekend half price sale. Drum to drum rear with 3.73 gears for $120. Can't beat that in CA. Plan on picking up the timing wheel and coil packs from a 5.0 Explorer for use on my Beater Maverick. Also planning on picking up the Non-P heads of the same truck.
