Had a chance to get back over to that old junkyard I wrote about a couple weeks ago. Took the camera this time. That place is huge! Came upon a few more Mavs in pretty sad condition. The first pics are of a 73 with a grabber hood that has the front rotted off. Notice the trees all growing around it. That will give you an idea of how long it has been there! The interior is filled with Maverick parts and I will take a better look next week when I go back. There was a 4 door that I didn't get a good picture of across from it. The next one shows a 75 that for some reason is filled with gravel. Must have been used as a weight for something. Third car is the yellowish 70 that had the good interior and the perfect dash pad. He is going to drag it out of there so I can get the doors open and get the rest of the parts off it.
Looks like a lot of good parts. I'd grab that stainless trim along the top of the door where your arm always rests, and the trim around the tail light panel for starters. Front bumper looks pretty good too.
I'll be using the rear seat, arm rests and all the dash and steering column (key on the dash setup). Anything in particular your looking for? I'll also be pulling the bumpers for cores. That front bumper is a little twisted on the right side, can't really see that in the picture. I'll be pulling all the trim that is usable too and the grabber scoops. That green 73 is full of grills, trim, door regulators and glass. I will be going through all of it next week. All I was trying to do yesterdy was locate where all the Maverick were. The owner has a general idea where stuff is, but does not know for sure what is out there. Place is so big, he actually said to take one of the yard trucks to drive around in cause it was too far to walk!
I didn't really look too hard at it, but almost everything out there has some pretty decent parts yet. There is SO much out there to look at, you can really get side tracked if you stop and look at everything!
I have been junk yarding since I was 16. I still occationally like taking a walk through on a nice Saturday. They are like museums to me.
I wouldn't pass that hood up if the front is rusted off but the rest isn't rusty. I just did a hood for Dave (maverickgrabber) that had the front lip rusted out bad, cut it off and cut the front off a stock hood and grafted the 2 together. Dennis what are you looking for for your 57, I might know where some parts are.
Hey acornridgeman, I live in Alabama and I sure would be interested in a good grill with the park lights. I would take out my comet grill and use my lights, only need a grill to match my grabber hood ! Let me know if any of them are ok and what you want for it. Probaly could ship ups pretty reasonably.
I went through the grills that were inside the green 73 (1st picture) and most have a broken spot just like the one on the car in the picture. I will be going over there early next week to look at some high back buckets in a 72 Mustang and check on trim for Dennis's 57 Ranchero. Will check on a grill for you. Might check on ebay for your grill. I have seen some really nice ones sell pretty cheap.
Wonder what it would cost to ship a lower dash for a 72 Comet? or if they are in good shape Also price depending I need: Drivers side rear marker light Comet hood (prob not one there)
