How important is it to run my maverick with the kick down linkage installed. I have been driving it for about a year with out it and now I am being told that I need to put it back on.

As a added note I am picking up my totaly rebuilt 302 tomarrow. I don't understand all the spec's but here is what I do know it is bored .040 over and the crank is .010 the cam and valves cylinders and about everything else has been replaced. Now just have to get it back in to the car.

I've run my '71 without one now for over 10 years and have never experianced any problems whatsoever. It's driven on nice days and Drag Raced every second weekend during the race season....

i take the shaft out of the trans and drive a 3/8 steel ball in the end of the outer shaft it came out of eliminating the shaft and oil leak it works fine without it

Only Chrysler products couldnt run withough a kickdown so there wont be any problems. Except ,when you floor the accelerator you may not get the desired downshift .

Only thing the kick down does is bring the trans back into second gear. Unless the hand is broken or some other problem, moveing the shift to second does the same thing.
The cars with the C4S transmission were all manuel shifted, no auto shifting at all.

I have always heard you can run without a kickdown with a c4. Have heard that you cannot do with a c6. Something about tension needing to be on there.
