i found a add on craigslist for a 65 mustang with a factory 4 speed. i talked to the owner and he said it was a 200 6 with a 4 speed .can someone tell me is there a difference between the 6 and 8 transmission and would i be able to use 4 speed from the 6 to use in my mav. with a 302 thanks russell
If it came out of a 65 Mustang then it’s a Dagenham transmission. It’s a very weak transmission and parts are expensive
As long as its compatible with a V8 Bell housing and the input shaft is the right length it should work. you would want the overal length of transmission to be the same too so you can re-use your stock drive shaft. A Toploader is the best plug and Play way to go ...
i don't think i wanna use it if it's gonna be a weak transmission, don't wanna keep pulling it out to fix it.
The transmission won't fit a V8 bell housing...it fits the 60-66 six cylinder bell housing. Parts are hard to find to "keep fixing".
