Do the bushings for a 69 mustang work for the front suspention on a Maverick. If not, how do I find some poly bushings that work.
Be very cautious about poly strut rod bushings. Examples abound of strut rods breaking right at the end of the threads because the pivot at the front of the bushing gets bound up too tightly. Installation MAY be a factor. Also, I've often wondered if it wouldn't work well to use poly bushings ahead of the crossmember to control brake torque and rubber behind to allow proper motion.
Agreed on poly bushings, my Comet's suspension was so stiff(all because the strut rods were effectively locked in place) it was almost like having solid springs. I pulled them out and tossed them in the trash bin. The replacement Moog are a better design than the orig, happy with with them in both my Comet and Cobra Jet.
The only place I would ever use polyurethane bushings on a street driven car is on the sway-bars. They are too harsh and noisy on the street. Of course if it's a race car, that's a different story.
AFAIK all replacement bushings, control arms etc for '66-'71 Fairlane/Torino/Cyclone, '67/'73 Mustang/Cougar & '70-'77 Maverick/Comet(OK there is no '70 Comet) are all same. Can toss '75/'80 Granada in the pile as well. Note there are differences from '69 to '70 in tie rod & spindle sizes. This includes early Maverick('69½)
