Greetings... I have been looking at various platforms to create a sleeper track day car and after researching the options I decided it would be a Maverick. It's basically a less sexy Mustang underneath and will be fun to get them point bys. Here to better understand all the suspension options especially. Thanks for the add, Bill Aka HalfFast
Front suspensions are very similar to Mustangs of the '69-70 years, but narrow like a '65-66. Same upper and lower control arms, strut rods, steering box, and more...but being a Ford, it's of course a little more complicated than that. Ask plenty of questions and you'll get great answers. Bottom line, you can do all the same modifications to a Maverick as you can to a Mustang. Rear suspension likewise is the same as Mustang but different. Typical Ford leaf spring arrangement, but the springs don't interchange.
"... create a sleeper track day car and after researching the options I decided it would be a Maverick ..." . welcome to the site, good to hear another you plan on a Maverick passed into the future . . for a real sleeper the typical Maverick Four door, Bench Seat , Vinyl-Opera roof , Big Bumper car would be fun ... . . here's a sleeper: https://www.hemmings.com/stories/the-grocery-getter-1962-ford-falcon-tudor-wagon/ . hav fun
Almost..Ssteering sector has different bolt pattern than Mustang, it is same as '68-'71 Fairlane, Torino, Falcon, Cyclone. As noted, rear springs are shorter than Mustang.
This is a friend of mines car, and part of my inspiration https://www.holley.com/garage/view/1272-1980-ford-fairmont/
I actually wondered about that. Would rear suspension upgrades like 3 and 4 link suspension kits fit on the rear of a 4 door?
