i have a maverick date of manufacture is 09-72. it has a skinny back bumper and brackets on the front for a fat bumper. Is this normal. It has the package tray under the dash. The doors don't have the reinforcement beam, but have the armrest with the 3 mounting holes. The doors also have the textured finish on the inside. Are these parts mixed up, or did it come like this.

My 73 Comet has a package tray and a small rear bumper too. It was built 10/72.
Package tray cars rule by the way.

The front bumper is a mid-size (73 only), the rear is small.

My front bumper was far larger than my back bumper but not as huge as my 77s was.

    mixed up maverick.

    thanks,
The people I bought it from thought it was a 74. I decided it must be a 72. And then all the mixed up parts confused me even more. I will try to get pictures posted. I am driving it everyday. Still got a long way to go.(y)

Build date of 9/72 should be an early 73 car....

Yep three different front bumper sizes over the years, i still like the '73 front bumpers the best. (Gasp).

The pic in my signature shows the '73 only 'mid size' as I call it bumper. Rear bumper was the same as '69-'72 Maverick/Comet. But, the mounting brackets set the bumper farther away from the car and there are larger moulded filler pieces to fill the gap on the ends where the bumper meets the rear quarter extension.
