Mounting aftermarket gauges in vent on dash???
My question is this... I have a dash from an a/c 69 maverick that will be going into another maverick of the same vintage, but that has no a/c. I removed the center vent for the a/c and have a nice empty hole. What do you think is the best way to mount a pair of 2 5/8" gauges at this point??? I was thinking about cutting part of that plate out, but leaving the bolt holes intact so it can be fitted using a stock bolt location, then just weld a piece of curved sheetmetal to the backside of what's left. The sheetmetal will be precut and test fitted for the gauges so they will slide right in without an issue. If for some reason 2 5/8" won't fit, I can always step down to 2 1/16". Do you guys think this will work??? Has anyone ever done this type of thing before???

There was a gauge panel made for the AC opening on ebay last week. It is from a guy in Brazil.
