Just picked this Maverick up in Phoenix, haven't had enough time to sort it out, but it should be a low 12's car, but only for a short time. 347 on the way. Just putting a Barry Grant 750 on it. Put a electric fan with a full shroud that I built, and a CSI electric water pump. It has a built 302, 10.5:1, good heads, 5.14 gears with a spool, and I licensed it for the street. No smog checks where I live.
Sold my super comp dragster and bought this, I am having so much more fun with this car!

Steve Nice find. I lived in Phoenix for a year back in 2001 to 2002 I never saw another maverick except in the bone yards. That car seem like it should be a low 12 or high 11. Those are some steep gears:eek: . You said good heads but did not specify aftermarket or stock ported. Thos look like Mickey thompson slicks 29 by 9 inch??? am I close:yup: Welcome to the board and keep on mavericking man.(y)

The car ran mostly at Speedworld and Tucson, but it hasn't ran since 1992. It has been in storage since then. It just happen to appear in National Dragster at the same time I sold my Super Comp car. I am still working on my 1974, that is the front coil over suspension that I posted pics of a few years ago. Finally got my new shop built and I now have the room to finish it.

    Racing at Speedworld

Hi DOn, I met you at Firebird one night a couple of years ago, recognized the car from here I think. Speedworld is so much closer to Havasu than Firebird. I like the fact that you are so close to your pit and that you can run repeatedly for time only. The pictures I posted above were this weekend. It was nice, got 8 runs in in an hour. The car was way lean, so I worked on the tree, I have been used to a pro tree only. I got the 750 on it today, hope to take it this Thursday night and run it. Maybe then I will have some interesting time slips. Do you know Ryan?

Nice lookin' car Steve. I have never seen it before. But since it has been garaged since 92 that would make sense because I didn't start going to the track until 94. If you are going out on Thurs. I will go out there to meet you and bring my Maverick. I actually have the day off work and since my company (Checker Auto) sponsors it I get in cheap. I might even make some runs, nothing fancy though until I get my new tires and an alignment.

Now I remember. Did you have the maverick with the helecopter pictured in the background? That was a neat project.

It is good to be back in the Maverick swing of things. They get so much attention at the car shows, and we have plenty in Havasu. Hey Ryan, I will let you know if I plan on making it to Speedworld. I have to leave Friday morning for 3 days. Mavaholic, yes I had the Maverick with the helicopter in the background. As soon as I get the 347 going, I plan on putting the 302 and the C-4 in the yellow car in it temporarily. I will use a powerglide with the 347.
