Just got back to the board and it changed. I have a 75 Grabber that had been repainted a couple of times after 75 that I just got started on the body work yesterday. If anybody has good pictures of the proper striping for the 74 or75 grabber let me know. It has now got a 302 with a 268 comp cam, 600 holley, aod, cruise and air. We also have a 76 2 Door and my Son drives a 77 4 Door LDO Posting a bad pic of the grabber before I started.
Get in touch with Willie Orpurt at worpurt@woh.rr.com He has an all original 75 Grabber and I'm sure will be glad to furnish you with pictures to help you out. He comes on this board once in a while but havent see him lately. Where are ya Willie?
Answers Doc is the nickname or I could pay someone to do all the body work. probably not I'm to cheap. The 268 cam works great, good torque good gas mileage (mid 20's)with the ac on. The picture makes it look better than it is but the body is straight except a spot on the drivers side from the idiots at the muffler shop ran something into it and then tried to say it was like that when I brought it in. Glad to be back on the board again Doc In Chatt
It really gets over 20 mpg with the 302??? wow, being in high school, im curious how you manage that? I am expecting the worst when i finish my 302. -Todd:bananaman
MPG I put a AOD behind the 302 and use the curise control on the interstates. Last year from Chattanooga to Chicago I averaged 26 mpg at 70 mph. Best mpg so far has been 28. Around town it gets 16 to 18 unless my wife is driving then it gets about 12(lead foot).
Well I get 17 on the highway with 3.55 gears and a Holley 4-barrel, so it's entirely conceivable that you could get 20MPG in a Maverick with a 2.79 or 3.00 gear ratio. And with overdrive, it's really not a problem...
Well, in all honesty, that was at 65. So It's probably less at 75 or 80. But if someone has overdrive or high gears, and keeps their "foot out of it", one can get decent fuel ecconomy with a Maverick...
