Well my wife thinks I'm crazy. I went out and purchased another Maverick! That makes three now. Some of you guys that own 3+ Mavericks need to have warned me about this disease. Do I seek professional help? Does counseling help? At any rate I bought the car here in the Phoenix area. The car is a 1973 four door V8 with auto/air. The car has lived in Arizona it's entire life so no rust at all. The body is in PERFECT condition. Not even a scratch. The vinyl roof is a bit worn but I will worry about that later. The A/C works and it has the original radio. Owned by an old man. He just had the tires and headliner replaced. The V8 engine runs great. The carb is brand new as well. Just had my window tinting guy put on the window tint this morning (a must have when living here). At any rate the guy wanted $1900 but I talked him down to $1300 so I think I got a good deal considering the great condition it is in. Odometer shows 68K but I'm not sure that is not 168k. The old man says that it is accurate. It has been very well kept up so I think I can believe him on the mileage. On a side note - the A/C could use a bit of a recharge. Anybody have any experience with some of the R12 replacement freon out there? Is it any good? I've attached a few photos.
Congrats! Looks like a beautiful car. I sure do love the LDO seats... comfy aren't they? Way to go! -Corbin
Nothing at all wrong with owning 3 Mavericks, actually I have 4 but one's not presently running. Congrats on a great buy. Oh yeah, here's my 3. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=16805
Man, for the amount of good parts that old 4 door has on it, I think you got a steal of a deal on it! Naa, I'm just messin' with ya. Looks like a nice car!
First Jamie, stop picking on four doors, I'm gonna make you ride in mine!!! That looks like an awesome car! I have 5...its a serious addiction. I don't think therapy helps.
Wow,, super nice car. Especially for the price. I swore up and down I didnt need anymore at 3 of um. Now I got 4. I tell my wife they aint gonna make any new ones. Dan
I know how that goes. I have a total of 4 (2 Mavs & 2 Comets). Trust me, therapy won't help... It's an addiction that can't be cured...Let's see, where's #5? Looking, looking...nothing yet!!!
I have managed to keep my collection down to one, but later this year, I will be looking for another!
Wilbur will be bringing our 6th Mav home this week. He's sold one, so we'll be down to five in a couple of weeks. I keep telling him he's a Doug Bauer wannabe, but he doesn't believe me. I guess he could be spending our money on something worse. Good luck with your new Mav! Susan
It's been years since I owned an extra one of these cars. I'd buy another if I could find one for a good price...
