I am helping a friend with his slant six, its in a 66 Barracuda. Its too bad there arent any good manifolds for a 200-250 six.
Suprise! take a look at the Ford six. The manifold is a permant part of the head. Only by milling off and clamping/mounting a new assembly on, can the carburation be changed. Refernce Chiltons book page 74 illastration and see the intake/exhaust. If you really want to do it, go to Clifford Performance for the parts.
you can get the 2V aussie head and intake through www.fordsixparts.com I know of some people making some good power with the stock intake log and a 500 cfm holley 2 barell I`ll prolly be running a 600 cfm edelbrock or carter 4 barell on my 250
I'd like to look at a 200/250 again but I bet the log manifold could be drilled for a foger nitrous system. Directly inject nitrous into the head and bypass the small carb. Just make sure the exhaust can flow well. My guess is that you could spray 100-150hp of nitrous maybe more if you had really good forged pistons and rods. That would sure make a 6 move.
ford put forged rods in the 250 untill 78 or 79 so all mavericks with the 250 have forged rods that with the 7 mains the only thing holding it back are the cast pistons and you can get forged ones from here www.rosspistons.com . With every thing stock the 250 can handle a 100 shot with out a prob
Thats a very nice looking mani, very clean N2o install....I do have a ??? though, why don't you have the Fuel lines facing the ports? On all the DP setups or any seup for that matter I have always been taught that the fuel should go before the NOS so as not to lean out....Peace Lox
I am not sure what you mean Loxman71, the fuel and N2O is mixed at the nozzle and they only go on one way. The Dodge bottom end is very strong. My friend will use the stock forged crank, aftermarket H beam rods (modified BBC rods), and custom ross pistons. He will spray as much as 300HP of nitrous! That is the upper limit of his nitrous kit and much past that and the stock cranks start to have a problem.
Well normall the jets are positioned with the fuel side facing the manifold, on yours up top, the N2o is infront of the Fuel. I was always led to beleive that the N2o helped push the gas first as to not create a lean condition. Thats pretty cool though, a DP setup on a straight 6...good luck. Brett
I understand what your a saying about injecting nitrous, but its set up corectly. If I posted a close up of the nozzle you would see how gas and nitrous is injected.
